Wounded Warrior Army Sgt. found dead in car on base with suspicious device

A member of the Army Warrior Transition Battalion assigned to Fort Sam Houston was found dead in his vehicle on Monday night, authorities in Texas report.

US Army Sergeant Cody L. Bowman, a 25-year-old assigned to the Brooke Army Medical Center’s WTB was located near Salado Creek Part at around 10 PM.

Upon observing the scene, authorities noticed what appeared to be a grenade, and locked down the area until security forces determined it was an inert training device.

According to the Air Force Times, Bowman’s death remains under investigation, though foul play is not suspected at this time.

Known by many as the units where wounded, sick or injured Army personnel are assigned until they can “get better or get out,” Warrior Transition Battalions exist across the US Army’s global footprint, and are frequently found at larger installations.
