The hysterical woman who threatened to unleash her Marine Corps sniper brothers upon the passengers aboard a Minnesota-bound Spirit Airlines flight from Texas told police she is a military veteran.
The passenger who threw a disturbing, expletive-filled tantrum on a Spirit Airlines flight on Monday told police she is a military veteran.
Video footage -courtesy of passenger Chianti Washington- shows the woman angrily pacing up and down the aisles, demanding to be let off the aircraft, which had landed at a different airport in Minnesota due to a passenger with a medical emergency.
“Get me the f*** off this (long string of expletives) plane!” the woman shrieked. “You want to be (expletive) and b**chy to me? You’ll see me f***ing pissed.”
When several gentlemen got up to contain her, she threatened one with a fist and said her brothers would soon be dealing with him.
“Do you know who my brothers are? They are f***ing Marine snipers. Do you want to f*** with a f***ing Marine?” she said.
Eventually, the woman managed to push past the men and make her way to the cockpit as terrified passengers looked on.
According to ABC13, police say she told officials that she became scared during the flight after not having flown since her time in the military. “Somebody was being very rude to me,” she said in a police report.
“I am a veteran and I feel like I am singled out sometimes.”
Another passenger speculated that meltdown was a symptom of PTSD, saying, “we realized that it was like a PTSD episode because of all the things she was saying.”
“‘You got to get me off this plane, I am ex-military, you got to contact my family’, so after a while it was like she is not just being a rude passenger, she has some sort of imbalance or stress disorder,” she explained.
A male passenger said she had told him directly that suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.
According to KIMT, police were told the woman was a military veteran with PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder, and the unscheduled landing apparently triggered some kind of panic episode.
Police said she was not arrested or taken for medical treatment.
Spirit Airlines released the following statement about the incident:
Yesterday morning, a flight from Houston to Minneapolis had to land in Rochester, Minnesota due to a guest experiencing a medical emergency. On the ground in Rochester, another passenger became erratic and irate and was removed from the aircraft with the assistance of law enforcement. We apologize to our guests who had to witness this and for the inconvenience of the delay. Safety is our top priority at Spirit Airlines.
The woman is said to be 38-years-old from Sauk Rapidsbut her identity is unknown.
