The Wisconsin Assembly has passed a Republican bill that makes it illegal to lie (Stolen Valor) about being in the military or receiving a service award.
According to WHBL, the Republican bill was passed April 14, 2015 on a voice vote and is on its way to the State Senate. The bill would make it “a criminal misdemeanor to make false claims about military experience and medals.” The bill also makes it a felony to lie about service with the intent to commit a crime – or to help somebody else commit a crime.” The punishment for offenders is prison term of up to six years.
