Wife of wounded soldier speaks out against Bergdahl

When Bowe Bergdahl abandoned his Afghanistan post in 2009 many casualties were suffered and resources squandered in the search for him. While intensively searching for Bergdahl, Sgt. 1^st Class Mark Allen was seriously injured when a sniper’s bullet struck him in the head. Now, Allen’s wife Shannon has gone on the attack, directly lashing out at Bergdahl. In a social media post, she wrote:

“Meet my husband, injuries directly brought to you by the actions of this traitor. He can’t give an account of what went down, because he can no longer speak. Now, which guy is a “hero” again?!? Sick.”

The recent public outcry for clarity in the Bergdahl situation has been brought to the forefront of the media recently.   Bergdahl was accused of deserting his post in 2009 while serving in Afghanistan. ‘We all served together and we were all in it together over there and he broke that bond by leaving us,’ Army Sgt. Josh Korder said during an interview with the Today Show on June 3.

On Monday, Ret. LTC Tony Shaffer told Bill O’Reilly on “The O’Reilly Factor” that Bowe Bergdahl’s lawyer had received a charge sheet that included “desertion” as a charge.  The Army Times has since reported this to be false.

Aside from the national media, Bergdahl’s attention is being stirred up in social media as well, where a page called “Bowe Bergdahl is A Traitor” collected over 60,000 likes and 5000 comments before being removed by Facebook officials.

Bergdahl is currently resting in Germany, where he is recovering from the events of the last 5 years.
