Video released of deputy shooting Army veteran while locked in jail cell

A Pasco County Sheriff deputy fires a shotgun directly into Matthew Trevino naked pubic area.

A 29-year-old Army veteran -diagnosed with schizophrenia- was the alleged victim of excessive force by the Pasco County Sheriff Department after being arrested for violation of probation.

On August 5th of last year, a deputy at the Pasco County jail shot Matthew Trevino with a shotgun through the food slot of his jail cell.

Deputies said Trevino was combative and refused to allow the deputies to handcuff him for a routine jail inspection.

The less-than-lethal shotgun round penetrated his upper thigh -close to the groin- and required three surgeries and fifteen stitches, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Trevino plans to file a lawsuit against the Pasco County Sheriffs office.
