The L.A. Times is reporting that a new long-range, jet-powered drone, called the Predator C, or Avenger, could be used to strike targets in Pakistan in case the United States is forced to withdraw all forces from Afghanistan by the end of the year. General Atomics, which makes the Avenger, says it is ready for combat. The unmanned drone has stealth features, an airborne endurance of 18 hours, a cruising speed of over 400 miles per hour, a maximum altitude of 50,000 feet and a High Energy Liquid Laser Area Defense System (HELLADS).
