Dramatic video shows what appears to be a Libyan fighter jet spinning out of control and erupting in flames as it plummets to the ground.
The fiery crash on the residential spot in Tobruk, a city on Libya’s Mediterranean coast, is believed to have killed three people and injured nine others, the Australian ABC reported.
The aircraft is seen — through the camera lens of a frightened onlooker — plunging dangerously close to the surrounding buildings before it free falls and explodes into the ground.
The plane is from Libya’s outdated air force, and it went down less than a mile from the country’s parliament offices, according to the ABC. The accident occurred during a memorial service for a pilot killed last week during another plane crash. BY CORINNE LESTCH (NY Daily News)
