An Army veteran is missing. His family fears something may have happened to him when he went to buy a car he saw on Craigslist.
22-year-old Robert Polk, a St. Louis, Missouri resident, went missing on Saturday. Prior to his disappearance, he told family members that he was going to take a look at a car he was interested in purchasing on Craigslist, and he hasn’t been heard from since.
Fox 2 Now reports that the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the disappearance.
“I fear that he got on Craigslist looking for a car. I’m thinking he met up with the wrong person,” said Hayleen Jones, Polk’s mother.
Polk was a standout football player in high school. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and served two years. He is still on the reserve list.
“He had traveled places before he had never been. He was just proud. I was a proud mom that he went into the Army and did something with his life,” Jones said.
Polk’s mother said he was finding work through a temp agency and had been saving money to buy a car. She also said he was very excited to find a car he liked after searching through numerous listings.
“Went to go meet the person to buy the car, he’d been talking to someone about a black Mustang and has not been back since,” she said. “He’s been missing too many days. He’s not a child to be gone 24 hours without calling.”
According to the police, Polk was last seen on Saturday, October 3. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and sweatpants at the time of his disappearance. They are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 911.
