Veteran caught on camera praying for police at department identified

A reporter for ABC action news (WFTS) in the Tampa Bay, Florida area was filming at the Pasco Sheriff’s Office on Friday, following the deadly attack on police officers in Dallas Texas, when he captured a heartwarming moment.

News reporter Erik Waxler watched as Navy veteran, Chris Mannoia, walked up to the steps of the police department, laid a bouquet of flowers and said a silent prayer.  Waxler posted the video to Facebook, which gained thousands of views in a short period of time.

Mannoia had no intention of being recognized for his actions. After he was recognized and confronted he said, “I was thinking at that time about those officers that were killed in Dallas, and I thought about how this is a continual thing and it seems like it’s every day now. How sad it was.”

Mannoia told Waxler that he feels a kinship with police from his time in uniform while in the Navy.
