A former US Air Force Loadmaster from Delaware’s Dover AFB has pleaded guilty to raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl.
Staff Sergeant Byron White, 34, pleaded guilty on Thursday, with his sentencing set for September 13.
According to the Air Force Times, White’s sordid tryst came to the attention of the US Air Force after he was reported to a Division of Family Services hotline, resulting to his arrest in February of this year.
From March of 2017 to February of 2018, the 14-year-old and White had reportedly engaged in sexual encounters at White’s home, eight miles outside of the base. During this time, he was serving in both Active and Reserve component roles.
White was arrested a week after another Dover AFB airman was charged with raping a 14-year-old runaway, making him the fourth Dover airman to face child sex abuse charges in the past year.
Dover Air Force Base is home to both airlift units and the largest Department of Defense mortuary, which has traditionally prepared the bodies of combat-killed servicemembers for transport and subsequent burial.
