US troops seen fleeing Kurdish forces as Syrian Army passes to fight Turkish forces

Vehicles from the US Army and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) were seen driving past each other on the road linking Manbij and Kobani, near the M4 highway in north-eastern Syria, on Monday.

Footage shows the vehicles from both forces driving in opposite directions.

The SAA and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) struck a deal on Sunday to deploy forces in the area, against the ongoing Turkish military operation.

On October 9, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the beginning of a military operation in north-eastern Syria dubbed ‘Operation Peace Spring’. Ankara says the aim of the Turkish offensive is to create a ‘safe zone’ cleared of Kurdish groups.
