US forces in Korea continue to remind South Koreans that GIs can get rowdy, creating quite a ruckus over the July 4th weekend.
Around 200 police officers were dispatched to Haeundae Beach in Busan after Americans set off fireworks and generated over 70 complaints from locals.
One Soldier was detained and fined for a misdemeanor after throwing a firework in the direction of police and attempting to run away.
“The foreigners were setting off fireworks, sparklers and so on along the path leading to the beach, even throwing some toward people,” one official said. “They also installed speakers and played loud music. They clogged up the road, did not make way for cars and flipped folks off.”
According to the Stars and Stripes, another incident involved drunk troops and a series of vehicle accidents.
US Forces Korea was apologetic and vowed to hold the troops responsible- if they can identify them.
“We regret the inconvenience and disruption this behavior caused the people of Busan,” the command said in a statement.
