A US Navy Petty Officer may not be holding her rank for much longer, thanks to a violent outburst that ended up on film- and captured her shouting obscenities about her Commander-in-Chief.
Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Launch/Recovery) 2nd Class Sarah J. Dudrey, who is based out of California, dismounted from her personal vehicle to confront flag-waving individuals near the Ventura County Government Center.
The incident took place during a protest that occured over the weekend.
Seven seconds in, Dudrey -who was in full uniform- gets uncomfortably close to a protester before pulling down her mask and screaming in her face.
“F*ck Trump!” she shrieked. “F*ck you!”
The crowd seemed shocked at the actions of the 24-year-old, who then flipped them off with double-middle fingers.
Suddenly, as the Sailor began milling through the crowd and continuing her tirade, protesters began demanding she remove her uniform.
“Take off your uniform!” one person shouted.
“Who is your commanding officer?” another demanded.
Dudrey is assigned to Naval Base Ventura County, and her chain of command informed the Navy Times that they are aware of the incident- and do not condone the Sailor’s actions.
“The Navy is a proponent of free speech and active-duty members are free to participate in protests during their off-duty time,” NBVC spokeswoman Melinda Larson said in an email. “However, Navy members are not authorized to wear military uniforms while engaging in protests and voicing personal opinions.”
An investigation has been launched.
