The US Navy has formally identified a Sailor who has been reported missing from the USS Abraham Lincoln, having mysteriously vanished earlier this month while the ship was at sea.

Aviation Electronics Technician 2nd Class Slayton Richard Saldana was presumed to have fallen overboard after attempts to locate him aboard ship failed.

US and Spanish vessels searched for around two days before eventually resuming their mission, and the Navy lists the sailor as “Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown.”

According to the Navy Times, Saldana joined the Navy in 2015, and has served aboard two ships during his career. He is based out of Norfolk, Virginia.
