
An Alaska-based soldier was found dead at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, according to local and defense sources.
The body of Spc. Brandon Ricardo Diaz, 20 was reportedly found in his living quarters on Friday, prompting an Army CID investigation.
Diaz joined the Army in June 2019 and served as a joint fire support specialist with the 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division.
The Arizona native’s awards include the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
According to Fox News, the cause of death is not known at this time.
While the majority of the 25th Infantry Division is a light infantry unit based out of Hawaii, their 4th IBCT provides an airborne component to increase capabilities in the Pacific/Arctic theater.
