A US Army Soldier based out of Georgia was shot during a daytime robbery in Chatham County on Sunday- and authorities are searching for answers.

The 75th Ranger Regiment Public Affairs Office confirmed that the victim was a Soldier, but did not release a name.

The victim was at Brewer’s Sports Bar & Grill with other patrons when two black males wearing purple bandanas and black clothing entered the building from the rear entrance.

Producing at least one firearm, the men demanded money from the six or so occupants in the bar. It is unknown why shots were ultimately fired.

The bar was closed for several days, with one unnamed member of the staff saying her colleagues need time to get past what transpired.

“We were the victims of aggressive violence regarding gun violence last Sunday on the 24th,” she told WSAV. “Our staff is trying to recuperate and we hope that the support of the surrounding business areas will help us get past this awful time.”

Authorities are still trying to identify the two males who committed the crime.
