
A US service member was killed in Afghanistan on Thursday, in an incident that remains under investigation.
The unidentified service member was assigned to the NATO Resolute Support mission in America’s longest-running conflict, according to AP.
Resolute Support and United States Forces Afghanistan Commanding General Scott Miller expressed sympathy, respect and support for the fallen service member and his family.
“We mourn and honor the sacrifice of our service member,” Miller wrote in a news release. “We remain committed.”
The servicemember’s identity will be released pending notification of next of kin.
