U.S. Navy pilot dead after F-18 crash in England

The U.S. Air Force on Wednesday said it is investigating reports of an fighter jet that crashed 5 miles from a Royal Air Force base in Suffolk, Britain.

The reported crash of an Hornet fighter jet happened about 5 miles northwest of the RAF Lakenheath air base in Suffolk, about 85 miles from London.

The plane may have been one of six fighter jets returning to the United States from Britain after seeing combat deployment in the Middle East.

At 8:35 AM this morning, the Associated Press confirmed the pilot had been killed in the crash
