U.S. Army soldier killed in training accident in Washington


A soldier was killed during a training accident at Joint Base Lewis-McChord on Sunday.

Details to how Spc. Drew Watters was killed during training a the Washington base has yet to be released.

Watters was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, which is part of the 2nd Infantry Division’s 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team.

Watters enlisted in 2015 and had been with the brigade since September 2017, according to an Army spokesperson.

“Spc. Watters was a leader, husband, and father who will be sorely missed by all,” brigade commander Col. Jay Miseli said in a statement.
