The US Army has identified the soldier who was found dead in his barracks on Sunday morning at Fort Wainwright.

He has been identified as 23-year old Private First Class Ruben Gonzalez III, assigned to the 1st Stryker Brigade, 25th Infantry Division as a cavalryman.

Officials say Gonzalez enlisted in the Army in California, in March of 2017, and was assigned to Alaska a few months later.  According to his Facebook page, he was engaged to be married.

While Army officials say foul play is not suspected, his death is being investigated by the US Criminal Investigation Command.
