U.N. Peacekeeper Killed in Attack on Base in Northern Mali


At least one U.N. peacekeeper was killed when suspected Islamists militants attacked a U.N. base in the northern Malian town of Kidal on Saturday. Gunfire erupted from the area of the U.N. and French military camps in Kidal, followed by the sound of rockets exploding. On Friday, gunmen believed to be linked to separatist groups attacked the central Mali town of Tenenkou, killing at least three people during an intense gun battle with members of the army.
