Transgender Army colonel says service members are open to the change

Transgender Army colonel, Sheri Swokowski, speaks about the changes the Department of Defense has made regarding their position dealing with the transgender community and seems relieved that they’ve begun to consider that they may have been too quick to judge or may be wrong in their previous thinking altogether.

She sees this change as positive and an act toward a safer future where people won’t care how you identify yourself.

She said that people in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines don’t care about these things and this change really brings it back to what does matter and what you should care about: “the family member in the foxhole next to them not about their gender or their private parts.”
