Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart

The Top U.S. intelligence officials have publicly warned that ISIS will likely attempt an attack on U.S. soil during 2016.  They also confirmed that ISIS was crossing borders with refugees from Iraq and Syria.

Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart, the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency said ISIS “will probably attempt to conduct additional attacks in Europe, and attempt direct attacks on the U.S. homeland in 2016” during a testimony on Capitol Hill today.

James Clapper, the director of National Intelligence, confirmed and elaborated on ISIS infiltrating countries with refugees.  He said that ISIS is directly inserting operatives into the flow of refugees.  He said ISIS has the ability to create phony passports which allow them travel across borders as legitimate travelers.

According to CNN, ISIS was able to seize a passport facility in Syria that contained passport manufacturing machines.

During 2015, around sixty ISIS-linked people were arrested within the United States.

Clapper claims ISIS is the number one terrorist threat to the United States but also stated that “Al Qaeda affiliates are positioned to make gains in 2016.”
