SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Latest on the funeral of a Navy SEAL killed in Iraq (all times local):
1:45 p.m.
Thousands of people including military veterans, schoolchildren and mothers with strollers lined streets the streets of Coronado, California, near San Diego to see the funeral procession of a Navy SEAL killed in Iraq.
The crowd stood in somber silence and some wiped away tears Friday afternoon as the casket of Charles Keating IV was carried out of a Catholic church and driven through seven blocks lined with mourners. The body is to be buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
Family and friends attended a two-hour mass at the church in Coronado, where Keating’s SEAL Team 1 is based.
People began gathering on the streets hours before the procession came by.
The 31-year-old Keating was killed in a gunbattle with fighters from the Islamic State group earlier this month.

The U.S. Navy SEALs are inviting people to line the streets in the military town of Coronado on Friday to honor Charles Keating IV, the special warfare operator who was killed in Iraq this month.
His remains are being transported across the Coronado Bridge to San Diego to be buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. He will be buried after a private funeral Friday in Coronado, where his SEAL Team 1 is based.
More than a thousand people gathered in Coronado on Thursday to mourn the 31-year-old Keating at a memorial ceremony. He was posthumously awarded a Silver Star, the nation’s third-highest combat medal, for his heroic actions during a battle in March against Islamic State fighters in Iraq.
He also received a Purple Heart and a Combat Action Ribbon for what he did the day he was killed in a gunbattle against ISIS on May 3.
