(Update: A 15-year-old boy has been charged with MarStratton Gordon’s murder, but his name has not been released because he is a minor.)

A father is making a desperate plea for information surrounding the death of his U.S soldier son who was killed last weekend.

MarStratton Gordon, 23, was visiting his girlfriend at a home in Georgia when he as killed by a single shot at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Gordon is believed to have been shot by his girlfriend’s 15 year-old-brother while on leave from Fort Campbell.

Gordon’s father, James Turner said, “We got a young man that was in the military that had a promising career ahead of him, that had big goals. It’s devastating to my wife, my family, his friends and the people that even knew him.”

Harriman Police Department has not charged the teen accused of shooting Gordon, leaving his family seeking answers.

“He needs to be tried as an adult, because if he’s old enough to pick that gun up and shoot my son and kill him, he’s old enough to suffer the consequences as a grown man,” said Turner.

Turner told ABC5 that he knew the 15 year-old boy, who is believed to be the brother of Gordon’s girlfriend Amber Kinney but his name has not been released by police.

Turner said he thought Gordon and the teen had a good relationship, making the news of the murder shocking. “He was a well-liked person. He was a jokester. He loved life. He loved his friends,” said Turner.

“The question is how he got access to the gun to shoot my son. He needs to be held accountable for his actions,” said Turner.
