A fighter jet was filmed slamming into a building in Russia during a late night operation, becoming a rare “other side” film moment in the Ukraine conflict.
The fiery scene was filmed on October 17, after a Russian Su-34 lost control and smacked right into a high-rise apartment complex.
The two man crew managed to eject as the plane burst into flames, putting an end to what local media called “a training exercise.”
Dangling from his parachute, the pilot and his crewmember managed to reach the ground.
Emergency services were dispatched to handle the fire.
“Ambulances and firefighters are coming from all over the city, helicopters are in the area,” a resident told state-run media.

A military plane (seemingly SU-34) collapsed into a residential neighbourhood of the Azov port town #Yeysk. Scary footages; the impact of this crash must be enormous. pic.twitter.com/N6bmu9josF pic.twitter.com/MT5FR7Yg9x
According to the Daily Star, all regional and local fire services were involved in the operation.
The Defense Ministry later revealed details of the crash.
“According to a report from the pilots, who jettisoned from the plane, the reason for the crash was a fire in one of the engines during take-off,” they wrote in a statement.
