Statewide manhunt underway after deployed soldier’s wife found dead on base

Special Agents with the U.S. Criminal Investigation Command are investigating a suspected homicide at Georgia’s Fort Stewart, after a deployed soldier’s wife was found dead inside of on base housing on Tuesday night.

The woman -who has not been identified by Fort Stewart authorities- was found dead by Military Police after relatives called and asked them to check on her.

Bringing in CID, the US Army has now initiated a statewide manhunt for the driver of a black 2018 Honda Accord, bearing Georgia state license plate #RLQ1762.

Tragically, the woman’s husband is currently deployed overseas, and will likely be notified by the American Red Cross and then sent home to handle personal and burial affairs.

According to WRIC, locals are uneasy following the murder, particularly since the suspected murderer has not been apprehended yet.

“It’s hard to believe. And it makes you worry if there is going to be more incidents,” local Jodee Adams said. “It’s very concerning the fact that they don’t know who it was and its at-large now.”

“Being deployed, that makes you think somebody is watching. You may not feel safe. It’s going to make a lot of people not feel safe in this community right now,” she added.

No further information has been released at this time.
