Spec. Ops. soldier in custody after barricading himself in house for hours

A Special Operations Soldier at Fort Bragg has surrendered after barricading himself inside of a house on Saturday night, putting an end to several hours of negotiation.

The Soldier reportedly sealed himself inside the home around 5 PM, and Military Police were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, they were soon greeted by the Soldier’s wife and children, who had fled the house.

According to WRAL, MPs evacuated around 8 to 10 nearby homes as the standoff unfolded, and negotiations lasted until 11:20 PM.

Public Affairs officials at the North Carolina Army post report that the Soldier was a member of the Special Operations community.

No injuries were reported and no shots were fired.
