A woman has been charged with murdering a soldier in his home at the Army’s Fort Riley post in Kansas.

Margaret E. Shafe, 30, of Fort Riley, has been charged with murder in the second degree after she allegedly shot and killed Greg Shafe on Monday, Feb. 19.

According to the 1st Infantry Division, Greg was assigned to the 1st Infantry division and lived with Margaret but they did not comment on the nature of their relationship.

According to a social media reporter, Margaret, aka “Maggie,” is Greg’s wife and they have two children.

“His wife allegedly fled the scene with their two children and was apprehended when she tried to return on base,” the reporter said.

Her Facebook account appears to confirm the claim as it features pictures of her children.

The reporter also claims that Maggie was reposting “eerie and passive-aggressive TikToks that seemed to be geared at her husband leading up to the shooting.”

One of the posts stated, “When he calls you crazy but you just showed him level 1,” the reporter claimed.

According to KSN, Margaret made her initial court appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Rachel E. Schwartz on Thursday.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Army Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the case.

She faces a maximum penalty of life in prison if convicted, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

According to Facebook, Greg was from Nebraska but attended a private Catholic high school in Jacksonville, Florida before studying at Arizona State University.

His military rank and service records have yet to be released.
