Soldier’s joke about COVID-19 deaths is becoming a reality for the National Guard

A US Army Soldier has been prowling the barracks demanding his comrades “bring out their dead”- but one Soldier’s joke is a National Guardsman’s reality.

Video of his shenanigans was posted to Reddit’s military section, where it received generally positive reviews.

Sporting a chemical suit, a M-50 mask and smacking himself in the helmet with a shovel, the Soldier walked down the halls repeating the line“bring out your dead!” from the 1975 film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”

In New York City, however, National Guardsmen are dealing with the coronavirus epidemic- which includes handling the dead.

In fact, around 170 Guardsmen have been tasked with removing the bodies of people who die alone in the city, according to Military.com.

National Guardsmen aren’t the only ones assigned to the job- 49 active-duty Soldiers are also working on getting bodies to the medical examiner’s offices.
