Two female US Army Soldiers were arrested in Texas last month after they were reportedly caught smuggling illegal aliens into the country.
Specialist Desman Braxton and Sergeant Diamond Lampton were taken into custody on June 18th in separate incidents that took place in Kinney County.
Both alleged human traffickers were captured while utilizing a road frequently used for avoiding Customs and Border Protection checkpoints and patrols.
According to KCSO spokesman Matt Benacci, the road is somewhat remote and it is rare that non-residents would be traveling on the route, which resulted in law enforcement becoming suspicious.
Braxton reportedly told law enforcement that she was transporting a friend, though the passenger of the vehicle turned out to be an illegal immigrant from Ecuador.
Meanwhile, Lampton was later stopped after law enforcement attempted to pull her over, prompting her to slow down and let individuals out of the vehicle.
The fleeing individuals were not found, according to the Stars and Stripes.
Both service members have been charged with smuggling individuals, an act that has now become a felony in Texas.
Braxton is assigned to Brooke Army Medical Center at Joint Base San Antonio, while Lampton is a cannon crew member in the Louisiana Army National Guard.
