Soldier, suspect in the disappearance of Vanessa Guillen kills himself after fleeing authorities on base

Family members of a female Fort Hood Soldier who vanished several months ago believe a suspect who committed suicide this morning was likely linked to the servicewoman’s disappearance.

Vanessa Guillen, a 20-year-old private first class, vanished over sixty days ago and her disappearance has generated a considerable amount of press, particularly after a body from an unrelated incident was found.

Guillen’s sister, Mayra Guillen, claimed that she had met a Soldier potentially linked to the disappearance of her sister, who laughed in her face when she asked where her sister was.

That man, identified as a soldier under investigation by CID, took his own life earlier today.

While a woman has been arrested in connection to Guillen’s vanishing, the Guillen family attorney said that others were involved.

“We told command who we believed it was and why. From there the search went quicker…. Last night they issued a BOLO and that person ran off base and shot himself when they came up to him. This is the same person we have been talking about the superior who she was with that day and harassed her,” attorney Natalie Khawam said.

According to KBTX, partial remains have been in a shallow grave along the Leon River, but officials have not confirmed the remains are that of the missing PFC.
