The Army reports finding a deceased soldier inside the newly constructed barracks at Fort Meade.

Army investigators were alerted Wednesday, just after 10:30 am of a deceased soldier inside the Freedom Barracks.

The Freedom Barracks were completed in 2023 with a $73 budget and consist of two four-story barracks buildings with 192 dwelling units.

There was no initial evidence of self-harm or foul play, according to a spokesperson at the installation.

Fort Meade is the home of the US Army Intelligence and Security Command, Defense Information Systems Agency, and the Defense Information School (DINFOS).

The Army installation is located just southeast of the Nation Security Agency.

The soldier’s name is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
