A 21-year-old soldier found dead in his barracks room Monday morning at Fort Carson has been identified.
Pfc. Kyle J. Walls, from Oklahoma, was a assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and had only been in the Army just 11 months at the time of his death.
He had not deployed and had arrived at Fort Carson on September 5. His military job specialty was microwave systems operator/maintainer.
Walls was posthumously promoted from private to private first class and a received an Army commendation, good conduct and national defense service medals. He also had a basic parachutist badge.
“It is always hard to lose a part of our military family,” the base said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Walls’ family and friends during this very difficult time.”
The cause of death is currently under investigation.
