A US Army Soldier in Louisiana was taken into custody over the weekend after authorities were told he was in possession of his wife’s dead body.
22-year-old Corporal Logan Kyle -of the 10th Mountain Division’s 3rd BCT- and 24-year-old Sarah Parker were stopped by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, who subsequently arrested them after the body of Kyle’s wife was found in the trunk.
CPSO Sheriff Tony Mancuso reported that Kyle killed his wife at Fort Polk, and claim the soldier confessed to killing her.
In addition, Parker confessed to charges of obstruction of justice and failure to report a homicide, after attempting to help Kyle dispose of the body.
According to KATC, Mancuso said that Parker’s two young children -both under three years of age- were also in the car.
“What disturbs us about that as law enforcement officers is, you know, when we come in contact it would not be abnormal for us to draw our weapons on what we consider a felony stop,” he told the agency at a press conference. “If we had to shoot into this car or they shot back at us or for some reason we could have injured two innocent children.”
The US Army Criminal Investigation Command is currently investigating the murder as well, and are not speaking to media at this time.
