Sgt. Christopher Thomas Muse, a soldier stationed at Fort Gordon, is behind bars charged with child molestation.
According to WTVM, the 31-year-old Evans, Georgia resident drove to South Carolina to pick up a 14-year-old runaway, after talking with her on social media.
He then drove her back to his apartment, where he allegedly had sex with her, police say.
When deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office searched the home, they found the girl hiding in one of the closets, WYFF reported.
Sgt. Muse is being charged with Child Molestation and Interstate Interference with Custody. The girl was turned over to her mother, police said.
