Schuyler Grant Naves

A US Army Soldier based out of North Carolina is facing some serious charges following claims that he attempted to get physical with a special needs minor.

Schuyler Grant Naves is charged with soliciting for prostitution of a minor, soliciting a minor for sex by computer, soliciting a minor for sex by computer and appearing to meet, attempted statutory rape of a minor, attempted statutory sex offense of a minor, and attempted first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Fort Bragg-based Soldier was arrested by the Liberty Police Department following an investigation into the potential abuse of the minor.

The investigation began in April and ultimately resulted in the arrest on Saturday.

According to WRAL, Liberty Police said Naves agreed to pay a family member for access to the minor and drove over one hour in order to “seal the deal.”

A Randolph County magistrate found probable cause on the charges, ultimately issuing a $1 million secured bond.

Unable to pay the bond, Naves was taken to the Randolph County Jail, where he awaits trial.
