Soldier accused of raping woman he was giving a ride

A United States Army enlisted man has been arrested for first-degree rape in Oklahoma, sources state.

25-year-old Steven Collins was the subject of an arrest warrant issued Wednesday night in Comanche County, Oklahoma.

Collins, who has since been taken into custody, is wanted for the alleged rape of a woman who hitched a ride from him earlier this year.

The service member reportedly drove her to a different location than the one she requested, where he is said to have taken advantage of her.

During the illicit sexual encounter, he also reportedly bit and slapped her for 5- 10 minutes, according to KSWO.

Fort Sill took responsibility for Collins, as he is stationed there. The Army installation is cooperating with local law enforcement on the matter.

Collins’ original bond amount was set at $500,000, however, according to online court records, it has since been reduced to $50,000.

His preliminary hearing is set for October 23, 2023, at 3PM.

If convicted, he faces up to the death penalty or life in prison.
