A US Army Soldier based in Alaska is facing murder charges for the death of his wife.

Endeavor Ryan Riley, aged 24, is currently facing felony charges by Fairbanks-area law enforcement.

Riley had called the police on Sunday, stating that his wife was unresponsive in their bed.

The victim, Kayla Kugtsun, had reportedly been drinking alcohol with her sister and husband the night prior.

While Riley claimed that his wife had likely blacked out and succumbed to alcohol consumption, text messages sent to multiple people from Kugtsun indicate that she had been assaulted by Riley.

According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, the victim had the wherewithal to send photos of her injuries to multiple friends and family members before expiring.

Law enforcement also found a message indicating that abuse had been going on for some time.

Riley was then taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center and booked on first-degree murder charges.
