A senior airman at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst died after being brought to a hospital from his off-base home on Monday, according to base officials.

Senior Airman Joshua Wright was pronounced dead at approximately 4:30 a.m. at a local hospital.

The 25 year-old active duty member assigned to the 87th Security Forces Squadron.

“This tragedy is a terrible and saddening loss,” Lt. Col. Patrick Bass, commander of the 87th, said in the base’s Tuesday post. “I extend my deepest condolences to Airman Wright’s family, friends and fellow airmen. We will miss him as part of our Air Force family.”

A GoFundMe page was created by someone in his home state of New Jersey and has so far raised almost $2,000.

“Help me raise funds for Josh’s family. Josh is up in heaven, but his family remains here with us,” wrote the creator of the page.  “Your donation will go directly to his beautiful girlfriend and son, Adelene and Isaiah.”

The cause of death has not been released by the base and it is not known if the death is under investigation or not.
