A US Navy sailor reportedly had her dress whites defaced by a scorned ex-boyfriend in Florida.
The incident was brought to light after a local Jacksonville news station was sent photos of a man -identified as Juan Correa- cleaning the rims of a car with Petty Officer Second Class rank sewn on the sleeve.
The photo’s caption read “hold on to someone’s property, (expletive) happens!” along with “#petty2” and “#dresswhitesinspection.”
The woman was tracked down by Action News Jax, who claims that not only was Correa her ex-boyfriend, but that the uniform was hers.
Correa declined to go on record and denied the uniform belonged to his ex, claiming he found the dress whites (that her referred to as a “rag”) in the garbage.
Since being questioned, the photos have been removed from the social media platform where they were first spotted.
Correa will likely face no repercussions by the military due to his retired status.
Defacing personal property is only considered a felony if the property was worth more than $300.
