Sailor charged for grabbing sailors’ “junk” while they slept aboard ship

A sailor assigned to the USS Laboon, a Norfolk-based destroyer, has been charged with three counts of abusive sexual contact.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Kyrick Lee, an interior communications electrician, is scheduled to appear at a general court-martial on Monday at Naval Station Norfolk.

He is accused of touching his fellow shipmates’ penises while they were sleeping aboard the ship when it was deployed in 2017 and 2018.

Lee allegedly inappropriately touched his shipmates through their clothing while they were asleep in April 2017, February 2018 and June 2018, according to the Virginia Pilot.

“This case is rare because the overwhelming majority of victims of unwanted sexual contact in the military are women, according to Defense Department figures. Less than 1 percent of active-duty male personnel reported some form of sexual assault in the previous year, compared with 6.2 percent of women”

Lee was assigned to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth after the Laboon returned to Norfolk on July 23, 2018.
