“I’m black and I’m proud,” protestors chanted in front of National Guard soldiers.
While the Guard is there to help assist law enforcement with maintaining the peace, many National Guard soldiers were uprooted from their civilian lives in a matter of hours to heed the nation’s call.
While in the uniform, they are expected to maintain discipline that demands the put aside their feelings, emotions, and opinions they have from home in order to serve.
As a person who shared a video of one National Guard soldier noted, it is a difficult task for some -especially those who strongly relate the message of protestors.
In the video, the Guardsman can be seen quietly mouthing the chant, “I’m black and I’m proud,” while carrying out his duties.
“This man is working twice as hard,” the poster to Reddit, noted.
