Pregnant Army veteran stabbed multiple times, killing baby

A pregnant Army veteran who served a stint in Afghanistan was stabbed in the Bronx, resulting in the death of her unborn child.

30-year-old Liv Abreu was stabbed multiple times in the gut by fiancé Oscar Alvarez on Tuesday, resulting in the death of the child.

Taking place just half an hour after midnight, Abreu crawled to her neighbor’s apartment and banged on the door for help.

Alvarez initially fled the scene with Abreu’s cellphone, but later turned himself into NYPD.

“We’re devastated,” said Abreu’s brother, Juan Carlos Abreu. “We were really excited about meeting the baby. That’s one thing we’re not going to be able to recover.”

According to Fox News, Abreu was 26 weeks pregnant and had previously served as a human resources specialist in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Though it is unknown if he is the father of the child, Alvarez reportedly became enraged and stabbed her out of suspicion of infidelity.

Whatever the reason for his attack, Alvarez will certainly pay for his crimes- he was charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
