Police shoot Fort Riley soldier after he kills a fellow soldier outside bar

Two soldiers from Fort Riley were shot, one by a police officer after a shooting incident at a bar in Manhattan, Kansas.

Three officers responded to gunshots at a bar in Manhattan’s Aggieville District early Saturday morning.

Once arriving at the scene, they found 21-year-old Joshua J. Wardi, a Fort Riley soldier, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Two of the three responding officers chased an armed suspect after we as spotted running from a bar.

The third officer stayed with Wardi and attempted lifesaving measures but the soldier died at the scene, according to KSAT.

During the pursuit of the suspect, Tremelle R. Montgomery, a 19-year-old Fort Riley soldier, a Riley County police officer shot him in the leg.

Kansas Bureau of Investigation reports the soldier to be in fair condition.
