Police have released information about the Sailor who died after he was found by police in a pool of blood in his Jacksonville, Florida apartment late last month.

Yeoman 3rd Class Anthony Labady, 21, from Lake Worth, FL, suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest and -according to police- and died 45 minutes later.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s office spokesman Christian Hancock told Navy Times Labady’s death “is currently being classified as accidental.”

“It continues to be an active investigation, but the investigation thus far is leading investigators to believe this was an accidental shooting,” Hancock said in an email.

Police did not offer any details or speculate on how the “accident occurred” but Popular Military’s search of  Labady’s social media accounts indicates he may have worked on firearms.

He listed his profession as “Gunsmithing at Smith and Wesson.”

Labady had been assigned to the amphibious assault ship Iwo Jima since 2016, according to service records obtained by Navy Times.
