An active duty soldier stationed at Ft Bragg was arrested on Thursday for leading police on a high-speed chase in South Carolina.
The State reports that Michael Jackson was traveling at speeds over 100 mph on a stretch of roadway known for its traffic-related deaths.
Kershaw County deputies noticed Jackson speeding on Interstate 20 around 1pm Thursday. As one deputy tried to pull over his red Dodge Charger, Jackson reportedly increased his speed and tried to get away.
He led police on a chase which continued into the next county over where Jackson exited off the interstate. He eventually pulled over to the side of the road after officers began closing in.
Sheriff Jim Matthews said, “The suspect complied and the officers maintained their professionalism…the importance of compliance cannot be overstated.”
Jackson was charged with failure to stop for a blue light, reckless driving and speeding more than 25 mph above the posted limit. He has since bonded out of jail.
