Suspect and people of interest named in homicide near Nellis Air Force base main gate

Early Tuesday morning Las Vegas Metro Police responded to a call of a shooting in the parking lot of the Nellis Suites at Main Gate.

Lt. David Gordon said the initial call of a shooting came in just past 2:30 a.m. in the 4500 block of North Las Vegas Boulevard.

The report suggests there was a fight that damaged vehicles and escalated to the point where a handgun was used. Lt. Dan McGrath, of Metro’s Homicide Section, said that a white man in his 20’s was hit with a bullet and transported to University Medical Center Trauma Center. The victim died while in treatment at the hospital.

Police have identified  21 year-olds Colton Brantano, Jared Busch and Sherri Esquibel as people interest.  Brantano has been identified as the shooting suspect and was reportedly driving a 1990’s model black Volkswagen Jetta with tinted windows, gold rims and Arizona license plate BME4708.

Detectives believe that the incident may be narcotics related. The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the shooting victim once his family has been notified.

It is not known if the people of interest or victim have any affiliation to the Air Force at this time.  Popular Military has yet to receive a response from Nellis AFB Public Affairs office.
