A 20-year-old U.S. Marine has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 76-year-old woman in Japan.

According to police, the incident occurred in Iwakuni city at around 4 a.m. on Saturday.

Police said the suspect, who is stationed at a U.S. Marine Corps air base, is accused of punching the woman several times in the face.

According to a Marine insider social media page, the Marine was not wearing pants and tried to rub his genitals on the woman prior to his arrest.

According to Japan Today, a man who witnessed the incident called the police and said a foreigner was beating up a woman.

Police said the Marine was drunk when they arrested him and claim he said, “he didn’t do anything.”

The woman was taken to hospital to be treated for facial injuries and was in a stable condition on Sunday.

The Marine was later identified as Lance Cpl. Manuel Gomez, a motor vehicle operator with Wing Support Squadron 171.

Maj. Roberto Martins, a 1st Marine Aircraft Wing spokesman, said, “We are aware of the incident and are fully cooperating with the local authorities in their investigation.”

According to Stripes, the spokesman said Gomez denies the allegations and did not know the woman.
