A shootout between two men who tried to enter Fort Meade disguised as women and a security officer lead to the fatal shooting of one man.
As reported by NBC Washington, on Monday, a little before 9 a.m., the guard and the men were involved in an altercation outside the gate for the NSA side of the Maryland Army installation. Shortly after the incident gunfire was initiated and the guard is believed to hit at least one of the men.
Drugs and a gun were found in the Ford Escape the men were riding in, which also happened to be stolen. A senior U.S. official stated the incident seemed to be a “local criminal matter” and no federal agencies are involved with the investigation. According to the Associated Press, the FBI has stated that this incident was not terrorist related.
